Does CBD Have Any Harmful Side Effects?

Can You Overdose on CBD?

As stated above, there is a humongous amount of research available today. In fact, most research pretty much agrees on one important thing. CBD does not have any harmful side effects that have been found. The only side effects listed for CBD is:

  • Extreme sleepiness
  • Decreased appetite
  • Diarrhea
  • Mild upset stomach

Each side effect is different for each person. In fact, each person’s body metabolizes differently. In a case study done in California, one person was extremely sleepy each time the CBD product was used. Another person was only slightly sleepy. You can expect each person to have different effects. That’s why you need to try it for a week and see how it affects you.

The results from some of the case studies even suggest that CBD products are not an addictive compound. In fact, the reason this is suggested is because the THC level in CBD is only 0.3%. The level is so low, that it does not produce a “high” feeling.

Even though there are no harmful side effects, you need to do research and talk to your doctor before you start CBD. In fact, there are so many different medications out today, that we don’t know all the risks of taking CBD and prescribed medicines. Obviously, you want to stay safe and talking to a doctor or even a pharmacist is a good way to stay safe. Be positive of all the interactions before you start taking.

Can CBD Harm or Kill You?

In all the case studies done around the world, all studies agree. CBD will not harm or kill you, even in big doses. The only thing it will do is make you very sedate. Remember, the more you do, the longer it will remain in your system. In fact, if you take CBD every day, it can take weeks or even months to leave your system.

If you are looking to take bigger doses of CBD, just make sure you aren’t going to be driving or operating heavy machinery after such a dose. You wouldn’t want to fall asleep at the wheel or at work. In fact, always plan so you can remain safe.

Can You Overdose on CBD Gummies?

As stated above, there is no evidence of being able to overdose on any kind of CBD product. It doesn’t matter what form the CBD is in, there is no overdosing of any form recorded. The only difference between gummies and other forms of edibles is that gummies may metabolize at different rates. The faster the rate, the quicker the CBD becomes active. All forms metabolize at different rates for each person.

In addition, it’s always best to do some testing on yourself. Try CBD for a week and record how long it takes you to feel the effects of it. Also, keep in mind how it makes you feel.

Are Animals Able to Overdose on CBD products?

Can You Overdose on CBD?

Unquestionably, CBD is used for many different things. Even the family pet can use CBD to manage arthritis pain, diabetes, or even anxiety. There are not many cases of animal studies with CBD that are posted online or in any medical journals. The best-case scenario is that you follow protocol and never give more than recommended. As with human studies, animal studies will need to be done to find out more information on this subject.

Some people have sworn by CBD helping their family pets. They claim that their dog had such bad arthritis it couldn’t hardly walk. However, there are no research studies to back this claim up.

In addition, a vet in Phoenix claims that it is useful to give high anxiety dogs some CBD oil before bed. This helps them calm down and relax. In this case, that would be helpful in diabetic dogs who tend to produce high anxiety when it comes to getting their insulin shots. Some diabetic dogs refuse to eat because they associate eating with getting a shot. CBD helps naturally calm them down, so they don’t feel so much anxiety.

More facts:

Undoubtedly, CBD works for humans. Why should it not work for our pets too? Some research suggest that some people use CBD oil to help manage seizures in dogs. One dog in particular, was having seizers daily. After administrating CBD oil, the dog’s seizures were happening less. Instead of happening daily, it was about once a week.

If you are a pet owner, you know how hard it is to get your pet to take any kind of medications, even CBD oil. However, there are some recipes found online for homemade dog treats that are infused with CBD oil. The recipe suggests this may be safer than giving the actual oil to the dog. It helps with protecting the lining of the stomach when it is baked into something.

Since we do not know for sure if a dog can overdose on CBD, it is suggested you start out with small amounts and keep an eye on the dog. CBD still has side effects for dogs. It can cause them to have dry mouth and be extremely sleepy. In addition, it can also lower their blood pressure.

Does CBD Oil Lower a Person’s Blood pressure?

In posted research cases, CBD has been shown to lower blood pressure. In 2019, a case study was done on different age people. They were all different weights and heights. One group was given actual CBD while the other group was given a placebo. They put each group through the same physical activities over a certain amount of days. The placebo group, of course, recorded no change. However, in the group there was definite change. Many tested for lower blood pressure.

Since a case study, in 2015, linked high blood pressure to health risks associated with heart disease, many people are willing to try CBD infused products. Some have claimed it even helps with metabolic problems. In fact, it really depends on the person’s body and how it accepts the CBD.

How Much is Considered too much CBD?

Many scientific research studies suggest there really is no limit. They’ve set up groups with each group taken different amounts, with no harmful side effects recorded. It is recorded that people who weigh more are able to tolerate larger amounts. Smaller people need to test out how much their body will tolerate them taking before getting too sleepy.

Since every person is different, pay attention to what it does to you. It may affect you differently then someone else you know taking the same amount of CBD. That person’s body may metabolize faster than yours.

It is recommended starting out with small doses and testing out what it does for you. No one person can tell you what the effects will be for you. Only you can know that for sure.

Closing Words:

Even though CBD products are very popular in today’s world, there is still much we don’t know about it. Most research suggest that you slowly learn what it does to your body before taking large doses of CBD. In addition, always monitor your pets to make sure they are receiving the right dosage.

There are thousands of scientific research cases you can read on just about every kind of case related to CBD. It’s always good to do some research before starting something new. That way, you can know what you should expect. You may not have the same reactions, but it is good to know what can possibly happen.
